Summer Literacy Groups

Summer Literacy Groups for children in grades kindergarten to 3rd grade.
❋ Phonics & DecodingWe’ll focus on strengthening understanding of letters and sounds and how to segment and blend words.
❋ Story retellWe’ll learn the elements of a story and how to use them to retell what we’ve read as well as to make up our own stories
❋ Reading comprehensionWe’ll improve language skills and practice understanding what we read and answering questions about stories.
❋ WritingWriting skills will be strengthened by practicing spelling and working on expanding the length and complexity of sentence level writing.

Enrollment includes
-1 individual placement session
-14 small group sessions (90 minutes, 2x per week)
-Upon completion, an individualized progress report with recommendations and strategies to use at school and at home

Marina Crain is a doctoral candidate in special education at the University of Oregon and a speech-language pathologist with over 15 years working in schools. She specializes in early literacy interventions for young learners.

Sessions will run on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Once group members have completed their placement session, we will finalize scheduling and notify you of session day/time.
